Amy Winehouse (September 14, 1983 – July 23, 2011[1]) was a popular British singer-songwriter from London. Her prodigious vocal and composing talent were overshadowed by a private life characterised by Hollywood values at their most extreme, involving excessive consumption of alcohol and illegal drugs and her refusal to get treatment for her addictions, which led to her death at age 27 on July 23, 2011. Her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, served 7 months in prison for assault and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
