The American Family Coalition (AFC) is a national non-profit grassroots leadership alliance promoting family and community renewal through educational and faith-based initiatives. Its stated core objectives are:
- Strengthen marriages through the application of family education and positive family policies.
- Reduce youth violence and other high-risk behaviors such as sexual promiscuity through enhanced parenting, youth leadership, character education, and positive role model initiatives.
- Promote faith-based community building initiatives to address addictions and other social issues.[1]
Founded by Sun Myung Moon in 1984, and funded by the Washington Times Foundation, it was formerly presided over by David Caprara, director of the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives for the federal government's Corporation for National and Community Service.[2]
