Adultery (as referred to in the Bible) is sexual intercourse between a married woman and a man other than her husband (compare fornication). The Bible forbids adultery in the Ten Commandments.

Adultery is one of the world's most destructive forces, leading to the breakup of families. It utterly ruins trust between husband and wife; it literally adulterates their love. What God has put together, no one should tear apart.

Prov. 30:20 "This is the way of an adulteress: She eats and wipes her mouth and says, 'I've done nothing wrong.'"
