Aba is a town in southern Nigeria with a population of 897,560.[1] It is located near the southern coast in the Abia state.

History
Before the British constructed military post in 1901, Aba was a traditional market town. In 1915, a railway from Port Harcourt was built, and the town began to collect local agricultural goods, notably palm oil.[2] It was also the site of the Women's Riot against taxes, in which thousands of Igbo women threatened war against the British colonists.[3] Since then, it has grown to be the center of art, science, and technology in the area.
Today
In more recent years, it has become the site of what may become Africa's largest shopping mall,[4] which has drawn complaints from certain Nigerians.[5]
