A Model of Christian Charity was the Massachusetts Bay Colony's Governor John Winthrop's 1630 speech describing Winthrop's belief in divine support for the Colony's success. In the speech he stated that Massachusetts would be a city upon a hill - in that the "the eies of all people" would be upon them. The "City upon a hill" imagery has been echoed through the years, most famously by Ronald Reagan, and is seen by many as the seed of American exceptionalism.
