Article needs expansion
While I understand that the project is desirous of a family-friendly encyclopedia, this article is patently ridiculous. And locked. Please add something benign, perhaps along the lines of:

Sexual intercourse is the mechanism by which human beings mate and produce offspring. The Penis enters the Vagina, the male's sperm fertilises the female's egg, and the child forms in the womb.

There can hardly be the slightest objection to something as simple as that, a matter-of-fact description for children of how we all came to be. EngelUmpocker 16:55, 2 May 2008 (EDT)

:* Give up, huh? Okay, here's the answer, according to one public school teacher in Los Angeles: "If we talk about sex, I'll have to assign sex for homework" --Ed Poor Talk 14:26, 23 May 2008 (EDT)

:: That's not really a relevant response. Children learn about the nuclear fission reaction in science class, but they don't have to build a bomb for homework. Again, I do understand you want all entries to be family-friendly, but surely question #1 in any youth's mind is "Where did I come from?" It's the first 'big' question every child has, and all arrive at it some time. Education behooves every encyclopedia to say something about sexual reproduction of human beings. It's not 'dirty', it's not 'wrong', it's simply nature and how we all came to be here. To ignore it is Victorian, and we know where that led. EngelUmpocker 14:39, 23 May 2008 (EDT)

:::One final thought on this. I would encourage you to take the view that if you don't offer your readership some kind of answer to 'The Big Question', they will go off-site and Lord knows there's no way you would want them typing 'sexual intercourse' into their browser to Google the info, is there? You can easily imagine where they would end up. Why not offer them correct and 'Conservapedia-appropriate' information that you are comfortable with instead of driving them away to find out about it at more salacious sources? If you provide the information, you control how that is presented. Not providing the information is simply encouraging searches at less 'trustable' sources. EngelUmpocker 15:25, 23 May 2008 (EDT)

Are you saying that your motivation for expanding the current article is to educate children about where they come from? --Ed Poor Talk 15:30, 23 May 2008 (EDT)

:Yes, of course. What else could have possibly understood? EngelUmpocker 15:32, 23 May 2008 (EDT)

Teach the Controversy
Why is the Stork Theory not prominently mentioned? I suspect it's the work of Liberals trying to spread their Liberal Depravity via Sex education fnord. --Gulik 17:09, 23 May 2008 (EDT)

New Proposed article contents
Sexual intercourse is the physical mechanism by which human beings reproduce and produce offspring. During sexual intercourse, the male's sperm can fertilise the female's egg, shortly thereafter the mother becomes pregnant, and the child forms in the womb.

I suggest the above for the content of this article. I have removed the references to the body parts, in the interest of getting anything better than what is currently in this article. The article is locked, so perhaps we can discuss this with the intent of putting this os something similar in here? EngelUmpocker 17:28, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
Neutrons can be created as part of Beta decay. There are three different types of beta decay - electron emission, electron capture, and positron emission (its theoretically possible to have positron capture too, but that isn't seen in nature). The second and third types of beta decay convert a proton into a neutron. In a PET scan one of: Carbon 11, Nitrogen 13, Oxygen 15, or Fluorine 18 is used. When Carbon 11 undergoes beta decay via emission of a positron it becomes Boron 11 -- a proton has become a neutron. In situations where the atom is not energetic enough to emit a proton, you can have electron capture such as Aluminum 26 becoming Magnesium 26. --Mtur 17:26, 19 March 2007 (EDT)
Many wiccans believe in a god and a godess, with many different deities being manifest of the god and the goddess. They use nature and pray and worship the lord and the lady. Many wiccans also practice magick, though one does not have to to be called wiccan. The use of magick is important in healing, and other such spells.

Contrary to a popular belief, Wicca is not an "old" religion, having been started, at the earliest, in the mid-1950's. There is no truth to the claim that "wiccans" were burnt at the stake by Christians, seeing as Wicca did not exist when the practice of burning suspected witches was still continuing. Moreover, these "witches" usually were simply people who spoke out against or disagreed with someone particularly malicious, who would accuse them of witchcraft. While there are many old religions that influence Wicca, none of them are alike enough to Wicca to be called its parent.
Wicca technically appears under the blanket term of paganism, and the two are often (incorrectly) used in place of one another.

As a materialist, his concept of human existence excluded the soul, with the mind being given a purely mechanical explanation. He was widely rumoured during his lifetime to be an atheist.
According to Hobbes's most famous work Leviathan (1651), life for humans prior to the foundation of the social contract was "solitary, poore, nasty, brutish and short". Humans had to form collectives in order to protect themselves from each other. This idea was extended by John Locke, who held (most notably in his Second Treatise on Government) that collectivisation was necessary for the promotion of economic growth. Hobbes's love of strong leadership led him to support monarchy, although he took the view that any strong government was better than nothing, and the stronger the better.
The Bolshevik Revolution was the second phase of the Russian Revolution in 1917. It was the first Marxist communist revolution in history. The Bolshevik Revolution is also known as the October or November revolution (See Trivia).

The October Revolution was organised by Leon Trotsky, as Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin was still in political exile in Finland following an attempted coup four months earlier. The reason this coup succeeded was because the Provisional Government, which had ruled Russia since the February Revolution earlier in 1917, had become deeply unpopular due to its continuation of the Russian war effort in the First World War and several public relations disasters. It was also crippled because the Russian military, which had in the time of the Tsars been famous for its loyalty to the state, no longer listened to their government due to their experiences of fighting in the First World War.

The Bolsheviks first took over Petrograd (now St Petersburg) and Moscow, with relatively little loss of life; less than 10 deaths occured in the takeover of Petrograd. Afterwards a bitter civil war was fought between the Reds (The Bolsheviks), and the Whites, a coalition of former Tsarist supporters, liberals, and moderates, which decided control of Russia.

Trivia
The confusion about the naming of the October or November Revolution is because at the time the Russians still used the Julian calendar, which meant that it was around a month behind the more modern states who used the Gregorian calendar, so for the other states the revolution occured in November, but to the Russians it occured in October.
Other English names for this region include: Canaan (Hebrew: כנען‎), Land of Israel (Hebrew: ארץ ישראל‎ Erets Yisrael), Judea (Hebrew: יהודה‎ yehuda), Holy Land (Hebrew: ארץ הקדש Erets Ha-Kodesh‎; Latin: Terra Sancta; Arabic: الأرض المقدسة‎ (Ard-al-Muqaddasah)and Cisjordan.

The Hebrew scriptures call the region Canaan (Hebrew: כּנען‎) when referring to the pre-Israelite period and afterwards Israel (Yisrael). The name "Land of the Hebrews" (Hebrew: ארץ העברים‎, Eretz Ha-Ivrim) is also found. The wide area appears to be the habitat of the ancient ethnic Hebrews, though perhaps shared with other ethnic groups. The land of Canaan is part of the land given to the descendants of Abraham, which extends from the Nile to the Euphrates River (Genesis 15:18). This land is said to include an area called Aram Naharaim, which includes Haran in modern Turkey, from where Abraham the ancestor of the Israelites departed.

The events of the Four Gospels of the Bible take place entirely in Israel.

In the Qur'an, the term الأرض المقدسة ("Holy Land", Al-Ard Al-Muqaddasah) is mentioned at least seven times, once when Moses proclaims to the Children of Israel: "O my people! Enter the holy land which Allah hath assigned unto you, and turn not back ignominiously, for then will ye be overthrown, to your own ruin." (Surah 5:21)

Same-sex marriage is a legal marriage (i.e. one typically formalized by filing papers at a government office) in which the two people being married are of the same sex. It gives these couples the same legal rights and status as married opposite-sex couples.

Unheard of a few decades ago, same-sex marriage is one of a number of issues involving gay rights and the "culture wars." Traditionally, in the United States, marriage has been considered to be one of the areas governed by each state rather than by the Federal Government, and marriage laws are a patchwork whose details are different in each state. The possibility of same-sex marriage in each state depends on that state's constitution.

In 1996 Congress recognized the likelihood that same-sex marriage would soon become legal in at least some states, and was concerned that the Constitution might be interpreted as forcing states that did not allow it to recognize marriages performed in states that did allow it. It passed the Defense of Marriage act, which prevents this possibility, and also prevents the Federal Government from recognizing same-sex marriages.

In 1999 a Vermont court ruled that under Vermont's constitution, it was not required to allow same-sex marriage but was required to make provisions to grant same-sex couples legal rights identical to those provided by marriage. Vermont responded by creating "civil unions," which are legally distinct from "marriages" but convey the same rights. As of 2007, Connecticut and New Jersey also provide civil unions. In 2003 the Massachusetts Supreme Court ruled that under Massachusetts' constitution, same-sex couples could not be denied Massachusetts marriage licenses, making Massachusetts the sole state to allow opposite-sex marriage.

The religious ceremony of marriage is governed by each denomination and is unaffected by laws passed by civil authority. Same-sex marriage is forbidden in Orthodox Judaism, Catholicism, and most mainstream Protestant denominations. Thus, even in Massachusetts, it would be close to impossible for a same-sex couple to find a Catholic priest willing to marry them in a church, or an Orthodox rabbi willing to marry them in a temple.

Public attitude toward same-sex marriage parallels attitude toward homosexuality. In general, it is opposed by social conservatives, and most of the support for it is from liberals.

Same-sex marriages are allowed in Canada, the Netherlands, Belgium, South Africa, Monaco, Spain, Cayman Islands, Greenland, Netherland Antilles, Turks and Caicos Islands, United States (Masachusetts), Pitcairn Island, French Guiana, Falkland Islands.

Israel approves of same-sex marriges performed abroad, but does not perform them in the country.

Same-sex unions or registered partnerships are allowed in Hungary (from July 2007), Andorra, [[Italy]9 (some regions), Luxembourg, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, France, United Kingdom, Martinique, Guadeloupe, United States (Vermont, Connecticut, New Jersey, California, Maine, District of Coumbia and Hawaii), Mexico (Mexico City and Coahuila), Australia and Norfolk Island (Tasmania, Western Australia, Queensland, Australian Capital Territory, South Australia, Nirthern Territory, New South Wales and Victoria), New Caledonia, New Zealand, Brazil (Rio Grande do Sul), Argentina (Buenos Aires City and Rio Negro Privince).

Same-sex unions are considered in Hong-Kong, Philippines, Taiwan, Austria, Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Greece, Gernsey, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, Lichtenstein, Poland, Bermuda, Costa Rica, New Caledonia, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is an anxiety disorder that can occur after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. Some examples of a traumatic events are: military combat, natural disasters, terrorist attacks, car accidents, physical and sexual assault. It can also affect rescue workers that respond to the traumatic incident. During World War I, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder was called "Shell Shock". It was then changed to "Battle Fatigue" during World War II and then it's name was changed again to "Operational Exhaustion" during the Korean War. PTSD got it's name during Vietnam.

People exposed to a traumatic incident will most likely develop some of the symptoms of PTSD. These symptoms can be very long lasting and severe. Why PTSD develops is currently being studied. Biological, psychological and social factors affect the development of PTSD
. PTSD is not diagnosed unless the symptoms last for 1 month or longer.

There are four symptoms of PTSD:
#1 A person re-experiences the trauma in some way, such as flashbacks and nightmares.
#2 Emotional numbing such as feeling detached and a lack of emotions
#3 Avoiding things that remind them of the trauma
#4 Increased arousal, always being on guard

The July Days refers to an attempted Bolshevik coup that took place in Petrograd (St Petersburg), Russia, between July 4 and July 7 (Julian calender) (July 16-July 20, Gregorian calender) in 1917, when soldiers and industrial workers in the city, some bearing Bolshevik standards, rioted against the Provisional Government that was heading Russia at the time. After the riots began the Bolsheviks debated on the likely outcome and decided to take control as they believed the 'proleteriat' were ready to defeat the Provisional Government and believed there would be a second Revolution. The riots were crushed easily by police, however. Significantly, the outcome of the July Days represented a temporary decline in the growth of Bolshevik power and influence in the period before the October Revolution, due to the fact that ,even though it was withdrawn rather quickly, the Bolshevik support for the riots was obvious.

Alexander Kerensky, the head of the Provisional Government, ordered the arrest of Vladimir Lenin and the other leading Bolsheviks, accusing them of inciting revolt with German financial backing. Lenin successfully fled the country and went into hiding in Finland, but many others were arrested, including Leon Trotsky and Lunacharskii who were apprehended on 22 July.

The Boer war was fought between the British army and the two Boer (Dutch) republics in Africa, the Orange Free State and the Transvaal, from 11 October 1899 until May 1902.

The war was begun by the treatement of British commercialists within the states, who were denied voting rights. This caused the mine owners and British nationals to pressure the authorities into toppling the Boer government. In addition the republics were an economic threat to the established British colonies in the region. An attempted coup backed by the Prime Minister of the Cape colony, Cecil Rhodes, failed, which let the Boers know that war was to follow.

In September 1899 the British Colonial Secretary Chamberlain issued an ultimatum demanding equal rights for the British within the republics. They retorted with an ultimatum of their own; if the British did not withdraw troops from the border within 48 hours they would declare war.

Initially the war was fought in the traditional style of pitched battles. Due to their expertise with the terrain and the disorganisation of the British the Boers were initially successful, launching offensives into the British colonies, however the immense capacity of the British Empire was brought to bear, and they were pushed back into their own states. The conflict then degenerated into a guerilla war. The British found that they could only control the territory they phyically occupied. But a mixture of new infantry tactics, fixed defences and the disillusionment of the native Africans with the Boers combined to end in the surrender of the Boer forces in May 1902 .

It officialy ended with the signing of the Treaty of Vereeniging, which gave the Boers approximately $5,700,000 to reconstruct and established the Union of South Africa, which was absorbed into the British Empire. The total number of casualties during the war was around 75,000, of which 22,000 were British soldiers, 7,000 were Boer soldiers, 25,000 were Boer civilians and possibly 20,000 black Africans. However the majority of the British casualties were as a result of disease and not through enemy fire.
