<div>'''Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen''' (born September 23, 1949, in Long Branch, [[New Jersey]]<ref>http://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/bruce-springsteen/bio/197715</ref>) is a very popular American [[musician]].<ref>http://www.rollingstone.com/artists/brucespringsteen/biography</ref><ref> http://www.springstomania.com/springstomania.php3?page=start&lang=us</ref> He is one of the top selling recording artists of all time.<ref>http://www.riaa.com/goldandplatinumdata.php?table=tblTopArt</ref> He was nonpolitical until 2004, when he started to bash President Bush; he campaigned for Obama in 2008.<ref> Stephen M. Silverman, "Springsteen States His Case Against Bush," [http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,677682,00.html ''People Magazine'' Aug. 06, 2004]</ref> <br />
<br />
His most famous song "Born in the USA" is a patriotic song. Some thought it was a shallow anthem about the greatness of his country, but a closer look at the lyrics showed that is was actually a Vietnam protest song. Contrary to popular belief, an artist can still question a war and be patriotic.<br />

<br />
"I had a brother at Khe Sanh<br />
<br />
Fighting off the Viet Cong<br />
They're still there, he's all gone<br />
<br />
He had a woman he loved in Saigon<br />
I got a picture of him in her arms now"<br />
<br />
Khe Sanh refers to a Vietnam battle that was used by antiwar activists to support the notion that the war was unjust.<br />
