Rebecca here. Not Becky, mind you. Rebecca.

Let's see. Because of the strong Christian focus here, I might as well clearly state my beliefs:
-I come from a Catholic family, but some Protestant arguments regarding prayer to Mary and the saints make more sense to me.
-I was an evolutionist for most of my life, then switched to Creationism, then, confused by the conflicting statements thrown at me, have decided that there are more important things to worry about. God created the world. I don't know (or care) how long it took. I'd love for people to contact me about this- I'm ready to listen.
-Animals have multiple purposes, including food. The only situation in which I'd engage in some form of vegetarianism is if animals were being inhumanely killed.
-Abortion is a touchy subject that I'm very uneducated about. Fundamentally, I believe it's wrong. As for the numerous technicalities, I'd love to learn more.
-The Bible has plenty of anti-divorce statements. Unless your spouse is dead or unfaithful, I think you should stay married.
-Homosexuality is not only gross, it's wrong.
-I disagree with the death penalty: God will give people what they deserve when He calls them.

A few other facts:
-I'm twelve years old.
-I love dogs (my mutt is a blue merle color, thirteen and still hyper)
-I live overseas- I think stating the country (France) is safe- please tell me if it's not.
-One of my many wishes is that my parents will let me homeschool myself. This idea did not go down well with them. (Another one of my wishes is to become a child prodigy overnight, possibly by a whack to the head or some fairy dust. So far, I haven't had much luck with that one.)
-One of my biggest pet peeves is picky eaters. Garrumph. Statements like "The food here sucks!" drive me up the wall.
-Another peeve that I'm much too irritable about is bad grammar. If someone chances to say something like "Me and Corey are going to the park," my radar will immediately pick it up and I will bug you incessantly about it. The same goes for spelling and punctuation.
-I'm interested in Christian music, but don't know what to listen to. If anyone has a suggested band, it'd be great if they'd message me. (I heard 'Jesus Freak' by DC Talk and 'Breakfast' by Newsboys on a friend's I-pod-MP3-thingy and liked them a lot. I also have a Michael W. Smith CD.)

Psalm23: I just added that dogs are used to detect drugs. I'll add some links soon.

Dogs, are a subspecies of wolves (given the scientific name Canis lupus familiaris ), divided into a multitude of different breeds all capable of interbreeding (though in some cases, physical relations between representatives of two breeds are unlikely or problematic - Chihuahuas and Great Danes, for example). They are one of the most well-known domesticated species, with archaeological and historical records showing that they have lived in a mutually beneficial relationship with humans for upwards of ten thousand years; in Biblical times, they had already been coexisting with humans long enough for it to be regarded as the natural order of things. Dogs are also viewed as being the single most genetically diverse species on Earth - largely thanks to human-imposed selective breeding, the vast array of dog breeds surpasses any other any other creature on the planet.

Despite being colloquially known as "man's best friend", every 40 seconds, someone in the United States seeks medical help for a dog bite. There are approximately 800,000 bites per year in the United States that require medical attention. Due to the high cost of dog bite liability claims, some insurance companies have blacklisted certain breeds and refuse to provide homeowners insurance to those who own these dog breeds.

It is likely, based on genetic evidence, that the oldest breeds of dog originate in Asia, and that thus the domestic dog originated there; similar research has shown that it is probable that the first settlers of the Americas brought dogs of some sort with them.

Dogs are used for many purposes:

*Guarding property and livestock.
*Herding sheep and cattle.
*Tracking by scent, carrying messages, and mountain rescue.
*Pursuing, flushing and retrieving game, and killing vermin.
*Providing assistance to blind and deaf people.
*Military and police duties including guarding, tracking and attacking. In World War II, the Soviet Union attempted to train dogs to place explosive charges under German tanks.
*To detect illegal drugs (German Shepherds are commonly trained to do so by police)
*As a beast of burden, or for drawing sledges and dogcarts.
* As a performing animal. Circus dogs have been trained to dance, ride bicycles and walk the tightrope.
* For fighting, now illegal in most places.
*As food. Dog is still considered a delicacy in China, Korea and parts of Africa today.

Today most dogs are kept for companionship only. Stray and feral dogs cause many problems, spreading diseases such as rabies, and attacking people and livestock.
