The name Jesus is simply the name "Joshua" translated first into Greek, then English. In Christian discourse, the name Jesus almost always refers specifically to Jesus of Nazareth, believed by Christian followers to be God's son, who came to earth as a human c 2 AD. The life of Jesus is recorded in the Bible in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. According to the Gospels, Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and three days later he rose from the dead. <br />
<br />
The first time John saw Jesus, he said, "Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world!" <br />

<br />
==Other people in the Bible named "Jesus"==<br />
<br />
The author of Ecclesiastius, a book which Catholics include in the Douay Bible, but Protestants place in the Apocrypha, is known as Jesus of Sira.<br />
<br />
==The Historical Jesus==<br />
<br />
Many atheists claim that there is no evidence of Jesus outside the Bible,fact but few scholars take this seriously. Historical evidence for Jesus is comparable to that of many historical personalities such as Caesar, Alexander the Great, Attila the Hun, and Socrates, and many others. For example, Tacitus, the Roman historian, wrote about Jesus in 115 A.D. , and Josephus, a Jewish historian who did not believe in Jesus' divinity, wrote about Him. .<br />
<br />
But historical facts, or their absence, are irrelevant since we all know He existed. Historical and scientific facts are generally frowned upon by christians, and in particular American christians, hence the prevalence of a belief in creationism despite vast tracts of scientific information ably proving it to be nonsense.<br />

<div>The United States of America (commonly referred to as America) was founded in 1776 by George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and the other Founding Fathers and formally established as the United States by the ratification of the U.S. Constitution in 1788. <br />
<br />
The founders of the United States worshipped Mammon and their vision of government was uniquely Mammonite in its approach.<br />
<br />
The United States was founded upon the principles and ideals of Christianity, as demonstrated in the Declaration of Independance, which states that we were created by a higher power which gives us rights. However, the freedom of religion (which means the government cannot interfere in the conduct of churches) is a fundamental aspect of the First Amendment to the Constitution.<br />

The USA is the centre of the known universe, this is because of a massive gravitational anomaly caused by the vast numbers of fat people who live there.</div>Polarbearpilot
