Human cloning is the copying of a human using the DNA in the cells of the donor. People have tried to
clone embryos, but the cloned child has not survived past birth. There are some moral and social issues with this that have yet to be addressed. For example, would a clone be the child of its donor, or its sibling (genetically, a clone is simply an artifical identical twin)? If these questions cannot be properly answered, there could be severe repercussions for inheritance laws. It's also possible that someone would clone Carrot Top, and nobody wants that.

It is most famous as the location of an event known as the "Chappaquiddick incident," "Chappaquiddick affair," or simply "Chappaquiddick." The narrow bridge connecting Chappaquiddick Island to Martha's Vineyard was the location of the death of a young woman Mary Jo Kopechne in a car driven by Senator [[Ted Kennedy]] on July 19, 1969. The organizaton was proposes by Jean-Henri Dunant, a Swiss-businessman, who was deeply affected by the suffering and hardship of the wounded soldiers in the Italian war for independence. In 1862, he proposed a worldwide group of volunteers be formed to help the wounded and imprisoned in wartime. In 1863, he suggested a gathering of world nations to develop such an institute. In 1864, the Swiss government held a conference with representatives of many nations who drafted the first Geneva Convention. This convention brought the Red Cross movement into existence. The organizations symbol is a red cross on a white background. In Islamic countries the symbol is a red crescent and the organization is named accordingly.

Heinrich Himmler

The Nazis were on the whole anti-[[Christian]] and regarded Christianity with little more than contempt as a religion of the "weak" rooted in Judaism. In addition the US has vetoed the last 30+ resolutions that would have held Israel accountable to the numerous war crimes that it commits against Palestinians.

Israel currently holds over 300 Palestinian children and 900 Palestinian women illegally in Israeli prisons without benefit of trial or charge.

On the DI's publication list: the cited list contains 38 publications. That's assuming no duplication. It's also counting books, not just articles, and not all of the entries are peer-reviewed. That's not even considering the actual content of the articles, and whether any make a positive case for ID.

On the DI's petition: it is neither designed for nor capable of measuring an increase in support for ID. The claim that scientific support for ID is 'steadily growing' is utterly unsupported. 700 is not 'broad support' in a community of tens of thousands. The petition is indeed open to mathematicians and engineers, as can be seen at the cited website.

From 2001 to 2007 over 700 scientists had signed the pro-Intelligent Design manifesto ''A Scientific Dissent From Darwinism'' published by the leaders of the design movement, the Discovery Institute. [http://www.dissentfromdarwin.org/] This is largely due to much new scientific evidence from many scientific disciplines such as cosmology, physics and biology. This has caused some scientists to question the claim of the dominant scientific community that evolution is the best explanation for the origin of life and call for public school science students to study the evidence supporting it in greater detail.

In a recent trial in Dover, Pennsylvania Judge John E. Jones III ruled that Intelligent Design was not valid science and "cannot uncouple itself from its creationist, and thus religious, antecedents".

In a speech to the Anti-Defamation League, Jones said that "had I decided the Dover matter in a different way, I would have then engaged in just the kind of judicial activism which critics decry," stating that he was bound by "over a half century of strong legal precedents."[http://www.adl.org/Civil_Rights/speech_judge_jones.asp]

It is claimed that the ruling was made because science is dependent upon observable, empirical, measurable evidence. If a supreme being was responsible for the creation of life, this can not be scientifically proven. Thus, it has been claimed, Intelligent Design cannot be a scientific theory. However, as noted above, Intelligent Design as a scientific theory does not identify the source of the intelligence responsible for life forms. If a supreme being was not responsible, it is claimed, Intelligent Design is a logical paradox: If intelligence is too complex a quality to have occurred by chance, what created the creating intelligence? However, this may be countered by the argument that the creating intelligence has always existed, and did not have a creator.

Ernest Hemingway was born in 1899 in Oak Park, [[Illinois]]. He was a famous author whose works included:

He won a [[Nobel Prize]] for literature in 1954. In 1961 he committed [[suicide]], but was allowed a [[Roman Catholic]] burial, as they ruled he was not fully responsible for his actions due to a mental decline in the last months of his life.

Hemingway influenced American literature. He helped popularize a style of writing that featured plain language, short sentences, and clean, sparse prose. His writing frequently focused on American expatriates living in Europe or Africa. Leading characters are often very masculinized, somewhat alcoholic, and suffering from mental scars, but they are always in control of themselves. These characters are believed to be based on Hemingway himself.
