It's been a very long time, he isn't a threat to us, do we really need to keep this going on. Cuba doesn't do so well because of our embargo, the only people that suffer are the average citizens, Isn't it time for it to end?
If the embargo were lifted it would have the beneficial effect of bringing Cuba in to the mainstream. The U.S and Cuba are like two neighbours who won't talk too each other, the U.S could improve relations by making such a positive gesture. North Korea a is case in point, the World Community began to provide aid to the country, and thus North Korea became open enough to listen to the U.S and abandon its nuclear programme. Abishua:
I agree completely, it is an idiotic and annoying to see that we continue to shun Cuba, with no real reason to keep them out of the mix. Although I doubt this will happen until a new president comes into office for a few reasons. The first reason is that he has almost no time to open relations up with Cuba again, so the chances are slim. On top of that, he decided it was time to shake the cage with Cuba and say we wouldn't let communism to stay in power in Cuba, and would stop the transfer of power from Castro to his brother. (Sorry I can't quote the article that I remember reading this.) It may have helped in the Cold War, but now it can only benefit us. If you watched Sicko (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0386032/), you may want to check the scene where they go to Cuba to get health care. Maybe we could learn a thing or two from Cuba about fixing our broken health care system.

TL;DR version (To Long; Didn't Read) No reason not to open up to Cuba, and we can only benefit from it now.
Saudi Arabia is unfortunate but unfortunately realpolitik has to play some role. Cuba, as a communist nation and at the foot of the US was always going to be a threat during the Cold War. It was important to keep it weak. However, since many other countries who are probably even worse than Cuba aren't sanctioned, maybe their is a fair argument to life the sanction.
The '''Oath of Hippocrates''' or '''Hippocratic Oath''' is an oath traditionally taken by doctors setting down certain guidelines about how they will use their medical skills. The oath dates back to ancient Greece but it is uncertain if it is actually due to [[Hippocrates]].

== Translation of the Classical Oath ==
I SWEAR by Apollo the physician and Æsculapius, and Health, and All-heal, and all the gods and goddesses, that, according to my ability and judgment,

I will keep this Oath and this stipulation — to reckon him who taught me this Art equally dear to me as my parents, to share my substance with him, and relieve his necessities if required; to look upon his offspring in the same footing as my own brothers, and to teach them this art, if they shall wish to learn it, without fee or stipulation; and that by precept, lecture and every other mode of instruction,

I will impart a knowledge of the Art to my own sons, and those of my teachers, and to disciples bound by a stipulation and oath according to the law of medicine, but to none others.

I will follow that system of regimen which, according to my ability and judgment, I consider for the benefit of my patients, and abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous.

I will give no deadly medicine to any one if asked, nor suggest any such counsel; and in like manner I will not give to a woman a pessary to produce abortion. With purity and with holiness I will pass my life and practice my Art.

I will not cut persons laboring under the stone, but will leave this to be done by men who are practitioners of this work. Into whatever houses I enter, I will go into them for the benefit of the sick, and will abstain from every voluntary act of mischief and corruption; and, further, from the seduction of females or males, of freemen and slaves. Whatever, in connection with my professional service, or not in connection with it, I see or hear, in the life of men, which ought not to be spoken of abroad.

I will not divulge, as reckoning that all such should be kept secret. While I continue to keep this Oath unviolated, may it be granted to me to enjoy life and the practice of the art, respected by all men, in all times. But should I trespass and violate this Oath, may the reverse be my lot.<ref>http://www.cirp.org/library/ethics/hippocrates/</ref>
==The Oath is Anti-Christian ==
Due to the Oath requiring the doctor to swear on the names of Apollo, Æsculapius, and all the "gods" and "goddesses" of the Pagan Greek pantheon some have said that the Oath is Anti-Christian.
::Thanks to both of you. When I did a Google search for ''oath of Hippocrates'', the first result was [http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/doctors/oath_classical.html this one], which differed from the CP version already in the first sentence. I figured that rather than searching for a translation that matched the CP version (and then assessing the reference's authority on the matter), I would just directly ask the person who posted it. I think a long translation (even if it's a popular text) should have a source, since it involves word choices on the part of the translator which can yield subtle differences in meaning. Incidentally, do you think the PBS Nova version might be better? I haven't looked through all the differences, but at least the translation of the first line seems to me a bit more accurate. Considering the references to the Greek gods Apollo and Asklepios (Æsculapius) and the capitalization of ''Health'' and ''All-heal'', it seems more accurate that the Oath is refering to the Greek gods ''Hygeia''[http://www.theoi.com/Ouranios/AsklepiasHygeia.html] and ''Panacea''[http://www.theoi.com/Ouranios/AsklepiasPanakeia.html]. In fact, the second of these two links cites the first line of the Hippocratic Oath as one of its attestations of Panacea in Greek literature and history. :::The reference I pulled up was published in the Harvard Classics series of books about 1911.
