Jaycee97:

The Flying Spaghetti Monster is a parody that began as a critique of the Kansas Board of Education's decision to allow the teaching of Intelligent Design in public schools. Arguing that Intelligent Design was a thinly-veiled attempt to bring religion into the classroom, Bobby Henderson constructed "Pastafarianism" as a new theological system and argued that it too should be taught alongside Evolution and Intelligent Design. on the notion of "teaching the controversy."

Richard Dawkins uses the flying spaghetti monster in his book The God Delusion attacking belief in God. The Flying Spagetti Monster is a thinly veiled attempt to mock Christianity by reducing it the level of some fictional religion like Pastafarianism.

The fictional creed of Pastafarianism parodies Christianity and other religions by using their arguments in exagerrated ways. For example, Pastafarians point out that there is as much evidence for their beliefs as there is for other religions.

References
<div class="references-small">
<references />

External Links
*Official website of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster
