Same-sex marriage is the term for a [[marriage]] in which both parties involved are of the same sex. The "same-sex marriage" movement supports the legal recognition of marriages between people of the same sex. <br />

The [[liberal]] rationale for same-sex marriage goes like this:<br />
*Marriage is a freedom.<br />
*No one can criticize what is good.<br />
*A [[same-sex union]], defined as marriage, is good.<br />
*Therefore, no one can criticize same-sex unions. <br />

The [[conservative]] rationale against same-sex marriage goes like this:<br />
*Homosexuals destroy the sanctity of marriage<br />
*God forbids homosexuality<br />
*Anyone who criticizes this is against God<br />

*ahem* The here are the basic flaws in the conservative "arguments" or as they put it "rationales".<br />

First Argument: the problem with this argument is that nowadays there IS no sanctity of marriage. Even amongst the christian fundamentalists there's a huge percentage of divorce. So really there's no sanctity to protect.<br />

The Second Argument: you cannot prove the existence of god thus you're argument of gay marriage is based off of something that can't even be confirmed. You can give any atheist or agnostic any amount of "evidence" concerning the existence of God, but the problem is, the evidence can't be proven, nor can any evidence against God be backed up with any amount of universal knowledge.<br />

Third Argument which is in correlation with problem #2: Some liberals aren't going against god because they don't believe god exists, so therefore they are going against nothing, which since you can't prove he exists, is a problem in the argument that its going against god. So to put it simply, some either don't believe it is against god, OR they don't believe in God so to them they are going against nothing. Its basically the one mindedness that occurs in both democrats and republicans that prevent them from thinking in a simply common logical way and that prevents them from looking at the other side of an issue.<br />
