Werner Karl Heisenberg (December 5, 1901 – February 1, 1976) was a German physicist and Nobel laureate (1932), most credited with the discovery of quantum mechanics, in 1925. Heisenberg proposed that it is impossible to assign to an electron a position in space at a given time or follow it precisely in its orbit. Heisenberg thereby challenged the model of subatomic particles that was based on planetary orbits. Instead, Heisenberg suggested that mechanical quantities like position and velocity are better represented, not by ordinary commutative numbers, but by non-commutative mathematical objects called matrices.

Heisenberg formulated a famous principle that now bears his name: The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle (1927), one of the central principles of modern physics. This principle states that the determination of the position and momentum of a mobile particle always contains errors which, when multiplied, cannot be less than the quantum constant h. These errors are negligible in most of ordinary life but not only significant in the study of subatomic particles. Quantum theory is essential for a valid description of molecules including pharmaceuticals as well as for the description of physical properties (electrical conductivity, magnetism, ...) of solids, in particular semiconductors. Some modern equipment, such as computer chips, lasers or the scanning tunneling microscope, take advantage of effects, which can only be understood through quantum theory.

The need to give up the certainty of simple mechanical and other models and to introduce the uncertainty principle in order to understand and describe some physical effects also inspired to question the certainty in other fields.

World War II
During world war II Werner Heisenberg worked on developing the atomic bomb for the Nazi party. After the defeat of the Nazi regime, the American government offered Werner Heisenberg a position at Princeton University instead of charging him with war crime, which he accepted.

Awards
Apart from many medals and prizes, Heisenberg received an honorary doctorate of the University of Brussels, of the Technological University Karlsruhe, and of the University of Budapest (1964); he is also recipient of the Order of Merit of Bavaria, and the Grand Cross for Federal Services with Star (Germany). EvdBach: Missed one

The Daily Show is a satirical program that airs on Comedy Central. It is known for catering to an audience of public school teenagers, more than 60% of whom watch television over three hours a day.

Liberals have recognized the leftist slant of the show by giving it a Peabody Award and nine Emmys.

Early Years
The show was originally hosted by Craig Kilborn, but in 1998 Jon Stewart replaced Kilborn.

Jon Stewart on The Daily Show
Jon Stewart is currently the host of Comedy Central's The Daily Show. He often satirizes George W. Bush, the war in Iraq, Congress, and United States foreign policy. Like other network news channels, Stewart often shows video clips, sound bites, and news stories in which Republican and other Conservative politicians are made to look silly, often edited or taken out of context so that they appear to be contradicting themselves, or showing Senate speeches that seem ridiculous. However, he gives a noteably easy ride to President Obama and most other liberals.

Correspondents
The comedians can be seen as showing a liberal bias while performing their "news" stories. The segments are usually aimed at poking fun at and satirizing the political parties in power. Thus, Stewart began by mocking of Republicans, but now makes fun of Democrats, as well as other topics in the news. Some argue that he demeans conservative positions, such as the Right to Bear Arms and the Pro-Life Movement, or Christianity. One segment in particular, "This Week In God", satirizes religious values while mockingGod. During the episode aired June 27, 2007, Lewis Black compared Conservapedia's "Homosexuality" article to Wikipedia's, sarcastically describing it as "way more interesting," mainly because Conservapedia's article described it far more graphically. In their coverage of the 2008 U.S. presidential election, most of the guests have been liberal, such as former president Bill Clinton, wife of Barack Obama Michelle Obama and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The show's most featured guest on the show remains Senator John McCain, though they had only entertained him as a guest back when he had a more liberal agenda and have been avoiding him since his presidential bid in 2008.
