What, are you just gonna completely ignore their original raw garage band sound, or that they come from Detroit. Or that the two members of the band are named Jack and Meg White. You mention nothing of their odd chemistry, are they divorced or are they siblings? Oh I see. Now we see the conservative slant inherent in the system. You don't want to acknowledge the power and skill of these musicians because they are either divorced or incestual. You can't handle the truth! This is all a lie!
Hunter S. Thompson was a self-described "Gonzo" journalist. He is Gonzo journalism! Without Hunter Thompson it wouldn't be around. whose writing was based on the notion that truth is stranger than any fiction. His work consciously blurred the line between the real and the imaginary. in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, he described his writing as "A savage journey into the heart of the American Dream."

Much of his writing in Rolling Stone magazine dealt with contemporary politics, and while he was left-leaning(and by that you mean awesome!) throughout his entire career, he had an active distrust and loathing for almost all politicians across the spectrum, with the notable exception of George McGovern. His hatred for Richard Nixon was especially strong.

Thompson once ran for sheriff of Woody Creek, Colorado on a platform that advocated -among other things- the legalization of recreational drugs. Thompson's political movement was dubbed the 'Freak Power' movement, as Thompson was calling on the marginalized sections of society to be his main support base. In what could be considered an interesting indictment on the town of Aspen, it took the combined efforts of both major parties to keep Thompson out of office. An effort which was only just successful.

Thompson was the inspiration for the character of Duke in the Pulitzer Prize-winning comic strip Doonesbury, and was portrayed by Johnny Depp in a film version of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Many have expressed the belief that Thompson reached such levels of fame because he was as a person what so many people -especially within the drug culture -wanted to be.

Thompson, a lifelong gun enthusiast, committed suicide by by a self-inflicted gunshot wound in 2005.
President Ronald Reagan (1981): "With God's help, we can and will resolve the problems which now confront us. And after all, why shouldn't we believe that? We are Americans."
President George H.W. Bush (1989): "I have just repeated word for word the oath taken by George Washington 200 years ago, and the Bible on which I place my hand is the Bible on which he placed his."
President Bill Clinton (1993): "Our Founders boldly declared America's
