The Obama Administration is the government of the U.S. under President liberal Democrat Barack Obama; it began on January 20, 2009 for a term of four years. It is expected to end on January 20, 2013.

Although the exact direction of the Administration is unknown, it is expected that it will take a different position than the Bush Administration on issues such as global warming and abortion.

The gravest crisis it faces is the Recession of 2008, with the economy spiraling downward. Moving fast, the House on Jan. 28 passed an Economic stimulus package‎ of $819 billion in new spending and tax cuts, despite unanimous Republican opposition,. The bill now heads to the Senate.

Cabinet
Obama proceeded rapidly with cabinet choices. Obama has drawn heavily on Clinton Administration leaders to fill his Cabinet, along with Bush appointees Gates, Jones and Geithner. His national security team (Biden, Clinton, Gates, Jones) all supported the Iraq war, although Obama made opposition to the war central to his campaign. So far no leaders of the left-wing of the Democratic party have been appointed to any major position, which has stunned antiwar and left elements.

Cabinet Scandals
Scandal has already tainted the cabinet. Bill Richardson was nominated for Secretary of Commerce but had to withdraw when he became a party to a criminal investigation. The nominee for Secretary of the Treasury, Timothy Geithner, was confirmed after a humiliating televised session in which he admitted not paying $34,000 in federal income taxes. Tom Daschle withdrew his nomination as secretary of Health and Human Services because he had avoided $140,000 in federal taxes over a period of years, and paid them only after he had been named to the cabinet.

Scandal also ruined the career of Nancy Killefer, nominated by President Obama to be the federal government's first chief performance officer. She too had evaded paying her taxes.
Senate scandals
Even more damaging to liberal Democrats were scandals involving the Senate seats of Clinton and Obama himself. In New York Gov. David Paterson came to office in 2008 after a sex scandal forced the resignation of his predecessor. Paterson damaged himself and his Democratic party by dangling an appointment to Caroline Kennedy, who was unable to make up her mind. He finally rejected her and turned to the most conservative Democrat in the entire Northeast, Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand. She is a Blue Dog Democrat known for her defense of gun rights and opposition to the Obama stimulus package.

It was much worse in Illinois, after Gov. Rod Blagojevich (a Democrat) sought to sell the Obama seat. Obama refused to bargain, so Blagojevich tried to auction it off, and was caught in FBI wiretaps. He was arrested and will face criminal trial in federal court, and was promptly impeached by the state legislature, with all the conservatives and Republicans there unanimous in calling for his ouster. Before he was forced out, Blagojevich named a light-weight replacement, Sen. Roland Burris. Democrats in Washington at first guaranteed they would keep Burris out because of his tainting by the governor's maneuvers; they relented and were forced to seat Burris.
Judge Robert H. Bork (born 1927) has served as Solicitor General, acting Attorney General, and circuit judge for United States Court of Appeals.

Cox firing
On Saturday October 20, 1973, independent special Watergate prosecutor Archibald Cox issued a subpoena asking for tapes of the Oval Office conversations secretly recorded by President Richard Nixon, and the President ordered Attorney General Elliot Richardson to fire Cox. Richardson resigned instead, and the President ordered Deputy Attorney General William Ruckelshaus to fire Cox, but Ruckelshaus also resigned. Finally Nixon convinced Solicitor General Robert Bork, as acting head of the Justice Department, to fire Cox, and Bork complied. This had an impact upon the Democratic Congress's bills of impeachment against Nixon.

Supreme Court Nomination
In 1987, President Ronald Reagan nominated Robert Bork to the Supreme Court, but his confirmation did not pass Senate vote when a coalition led by Ted Kennedy lined up to oppose him. Currently, Bork is best known as a legal expert who has advocated a judicial philosophy called originalism. Bork has authored many best-selling books, and served on the advisory board of the American Civil Rights Union. He is rightly lauded as a legal luminary and has been praised by men of both parties for his forthrightness and integrity.

Reality is variously defined as the totality of everything that exists, or as an aspect of a thing which exists independent of anyone's awareness or perception of that aspect.
Reality is independent of the human mind, i.e. reality would continue to be the case whether or not anyone believed it, or indeed whether or not there were any human minds to believe it in the first place.
:"That which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away." -- Philip K. Dick

Something that is said to be a "fact" is a concept, statement, thing, scientific law, or event that has been unequivocally (indisputably) proven to be reality, i.e. truth. Facts are always based on concrete, verified evidence which substantiates their reality.

M. Scott Peck described sanity as "dedication to reality at all costs".
An entry in a physics glossary:
*We say that science studies the "real" world of perception and measurement. If we can apprehend something with our senses, or measure it, we treat it as "real". We have learned not to completely trust our unaided senses, for we know that we can be fooled by illusions, so we rely more on specially designed measuring instruments. Yet much of the language of science has entities that are not directly observable by our senses, such as "energy", and "momentum". These are, however, directly related to observables and defined through exact equations. Philosophers may argue whether the "real" world exists, but so long as our sense impressions and measurements of this real world are shared by independent observers and are precisely repeatable, we can do physics without philosophical concerns. In 1974, the people of Payette and Washington counties sent Craig to the Idaho State Senate, where he served three terms before winning the 1980 race for Idaho's First District Congressional Seat. He was re-elected four times before winning the U.S. Senate election in 1990 and was re-elected to the Senate in 1996 and 2002. Senator Craig served as chairman of the Steering Committee, a legislative "think tank" and action group for Senate conservatives. He was the youngest senator ever elected to that position.

Craig quickly rose in the Senate leadership in his first term, when his colleagues elected him Chairman of the Republican Policy Committee. He was re-elected to that position in the 106th and 107th Congresses. The Committee is responsible for developing policy positions for Senate Republicans.

Craig has emerged as a leader for a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution, limited taxation, private property rights, and greater accountability in government. He has been recognized by national groups including Citizens for a Sound Economy, Citizens Against Government Waste, Watchdogs of the Treasury, and the National Taxpayers Union Foundation,

With his appointment to the Senate Appropriations Committee, Craig oversees funding on the following subcommittees: Agriculture, Rural Development, and Related Agencies; Energy and Water Development; Homeland Security; Labor, HHS, and Education; Military Construction and Veterans Affairs; and Interior and Related Agencies, where he serves as the Ranking Member. He is also a member of the Special Committee on Aging, which he chaired during the 107th and 108th Congresses, and the Committee on Environment and Public Works, where he serves on the Public Sector Solutions to Global Warming, Oversight, and Children's Health Protection Subcommittee and the Superfund and Environmental Health Subcommittee.

In addition to his committee memberships, Craig sits on a number of caucuses including: Air Force; Diabetes; Congressional Sportsmen's; Senate Sweetener; WTO for Farmers and Ranchers; Congressional Potato; National Congressional Award Board of Directors; Idaho Safe Kids Coalition (Honorary Co-Chair); the Western States Senate Coalition; Education Advisory Committee to the National Youth Leadership Conference. He serves as Co-Chairman of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption and helped to found and lead the CCAI, an institute working on adoption issues.

Craig is also on the Board of Directors of the National Rifle Association, the Alliance to Save Energy, and he co-founded and co-chairs the Congressional Property Rights Coalition.

Craig chaired the Senate Republican Policy Committee (1996-2003), the Special Committee on Aging (One Hundred Eighth Congress), and the Committee on Veterans Affairs (One Hundred Ninth Congress).

Craig was dedicated spokesman on behalf of the people and economic base of Idaho who depend upon the timber and power industries. ==Airport incident==
On June 11, 2007, Craig was arrested in a men's room at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, by Sgt. Dave Karsnia, and charged with lewd conduct. Karsnia had been staging a sting operation in the men's room, based on complaints of frequent homosexual trysts, and reported that Craig propositioned him by peering into Karsnia's toilet stall, and tapping his foot against Karsnia's.

Airport incident
On June 11, 2007, Craig was arrested in a men's room at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, by Sgt. Dave Karsnia, and charged with lewd conduct. Karsnia had been staging a sting operation in the men's room, based on complaints of frequent homosexual trysts, and reported that Craig propositioned him by peering into Karsnia's toilet stall, and tapping his foot against Karsnia's. Later, however, Craig indicated he planned to plead guilty to the charges, and continued on his trip. He had hoped to keep the arrest quiet, didn't consult a lawyer, and he never told family, friends, staff or colleagues about the incident. Craig returned to Minneapolis on August 8th, 2007 and plead guilty to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct.
