A Twitter feud between Owens and Baltimore Congressional candidate Kimberly Klacik was just one manifestation of the antipathy toward Candace Owens from many "[[conscious black conservatives]]" --- self-proclaimed black conservatives who support [[identity politics]] when it benefits black people and prioritize their identity politics over their alleged conservatism. These people have a similar antipathy toward fellow [[Blexit]] co-founder [[Brandon Tatum]], and for similar reasons: intensely jealous of their success and influence, they have viciously attacked both Tatum and Owens for race-mixing with white people.<ref>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29gnB3mHo7c</ref> Jennifer Oliver O'Connell even penned a column attacking them as [[Conservative, Inc.]] --- even though she writes a column for [[RedState]]<ref>https://redstate.com/jenniferoo/2021/06/21/candace-owens-and-brandon-tatum-are-not-who-they-pretend-to-be-n400398</ref> and the conscious black conservatives had a panel at [[CPAC]] 2021, which they used to implicitly insult Candace Owens. Brandon Tatum describes himself and Owens as "conservatives who happen to be black" and the conscious conservatives as "black people who happen to be conservative."<ref>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJ8tKkSO5kY</ref> Joe Collins wrote an article with the backwards premise that Owens and other black conservatives don't care about the inner cities and take every available opportunity to bash inner-city black Republicans and conservatives.<ref>https://eurweb.com/2021/06/29/joe-collins-gets-at-candace-owens-brandon-tatum-for-constantly-attacking-black-republicans/</ref> A major sticking point between the real black conservatives and the conscious black conservatives was the Ahmaud Arbery case --- some black conservatives, like Brandon Tatum, claimed that the black jogger was killed in self-defense, and these claims caused the conscious conservatives to lash out.
