Joaquín Clausell.

La Ola Roja. (The Red Wave) ca. 1910.

Oil on canvas.

100 x 150 cm.

Museo Nacional de Arte. Mexico.

Exhibited in 1910 in the frame of the holidays of the Centenary of the Independence.

Joaquín Clausell was a painter of water who, despite the time he spent abroad, his way of capturing light and his brush strokes, was not influenced by the colour theory of Impressionism. His favourite spots on the outskirts of the city were the Fuentes Brotantes Park in nearby Tlalpan, and Xochimilco, where the changing hues of daylight and the seasons are depicted in bucolic fashion.
