Robert Foster Bennett, born September 18, 1933 (age 90), is the former Republican United States Senator from Utah. He was elected to the United States Senate in 1992 after serving as chief executive officer at Franklin Quest and as Chief Congressional Liaison for the United States Department of Transportation.[1] Over the course of the 111th Congress, Bennett voted with a majority of his Republican colleagues 88% of the time during the current Congress.[2]
In May 2010, Bennett failed to garner the support of the 40 percent of the delegates he needed in order to win the right to appear on the primary ballot. He finished third and last behind a businessman and a Tea Party Movement-sympathetic attorney. He therefore left the Senate after the session of Congress ended.[3]
