Morris J. "Mo" Brooks, Jr. (born 1954 in Charleston, South Carolina) is an American attorney and Republican U.S. Representative from Alabama's 5th congressional district. Brooks was once the leading candidate in 2022 for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by the retirement of Richard Shelby (R-AL) and had been endorsed by President Donald Trump for that race. However, President Trump rescinded his endorsement after Brooks shifted the theme of his campaign away from addressing the election fraud that happened during the 2020 presidential election.[1] Brooks subsequently turned against Trump and has become a fierce critic of him.
In the 2010 primary, Brooks defeated incumbent Congressman Parker Griffith, who was originally elected as a Democrat but switched to the Republican party, and defeated Democrat Steve Raby in the general election. Brooks currently serves on the House Armed Services Committee and Homeland Security Committee.
Political Positions
Mo Brooks was one of 129 Republicans who vote to send $40 billion for Ukraine war.[2]
