Recent news: I am super-annoyed at Java, which has a nasty habit of crashing browsers in the middle of something infinitely interesting or important. About a thousand words into an excellent start to the article on Turing Machines, I decided to look for neat simulators to illustrate the operation of a Turing machine while running. I open one applet, and Firefox won't do anything for the next five minutes; finally, I need to give up and terminate the process, losing all of my content.
Lessons learned:
- Never, EVER enable Java in the middle of a browsing session when there's anything else I'd rather be doing.
- ALWAYS write interesting stuff in Notepad or Wordpad, where Java can't get to it.
