Hello! I'm a 22 year-old Computer Science graduate. My speciality topics are theoretical computer science, artificial intelligence, the world wide web and mathematics.

Forgive me if I occasionally use British English—I'm Scottish, and good at spelling the way I was taught to. Feel free to "correct" me, I won't be insulted!

Recent news: I am super-annoyed at Java, which has a nasty habit of crashing browsers in the middle of something infinitely interesting or important. About a thousand words into an excellent start to the article on Turing Machines, I decided to look for neat simulators to illustrate the operation of a Turing machine while running. I open one applet, and Firefox won't do anything for the next five minutes; finally, I need to give up and terminate the process, losing all of my content.

Lessons learned:

  1. Never, EVER enable Java in the middle of a browsing session when there's anything else I'd rather be doing.
  2. ALWAYS write interesting stuff in Notepad or Wordpad, where Java can't get to it.

GRR!!!
