Thomas Stewart Udall (born May 18, 1948) is the junior United States Senator from New Mexico and a member of the Democratic Party. He has voted with a majority of his Democratic colleagues 94.8% of the time during the current Congress. [1] Udall serves on the Commerce, Science, and Transportation, Environment and Public Works Committee, the Rules and Administration Committee and the Indian Affairs Committee.
Previously he was a U.S. Representatives from New Mexico's 3rd congressional district, from 1999 through 2009. Tom Udall is the first cousin of Colorado Senator Mark Udall, a Democrat, and the second cousin of former Oregon Senator Gordon Smith, a Republican.
