Thomas H. (Tom) Allen, born April 16, 1945 (age 64), is a former member of the United States House of Representatives, representing Maine's 1st congressional district from 1997-2009. He is a liberal Democrat who missed 157 votes in Congress and never introduced a bill was signed into law. Allen ran for the United States Senate in 2008 against moderate Republican Susan Collins. He was defeated 61%-39%.
