The Ancestor's Tale, by Richard Dawkins, is a document outlining the typical model of descent from the human being back to the initial common ancestor. The book is written in the format of Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, and Dawkins makes the point that this is, like Chaucer's story, a pilgrimage.
