What? No mention of Bill Lawry?AlanE 04:23, 25 May 2007 (EDT)

Bill who?Hannibal ad portas 05:10, 25 May 2007 (EDT)
Sounds like a cricketer to me. InGodWeTrust 05:33, 25 May 2007 (EDT)
Now I know. They are always making fun of him in the 12th Man parody (there are 11 men in a cricket team, the 12th man serves the drinks). Hannibal ad portas 06:59, 25 May 2007 (EDT)

Any Melbournite would know exactly who I mean. AlanE 06:57, 25 May 2007 (EDT)

Who says I'm a Malburnian?Hannibal ad portas 07:00, 25 May 2007 (EDT)

Sorry.I didn't mean to intimate anything. (gee, I am getting in the,um, getting into strife everywhere tonight). Bill Lawry was a test cricketer, and captained Australia in the late 60s, early 70s. In recent years he has been a commentator on TV. He is famous around the country for being very very very Victorian. (That's Victorian as in State of Australia of which Melbourne is capital). He is famous for much repeated phrases like: "It is all happening at the MSG." (Melbourne Cricket Ground.) He is a bit of a standing joke. But you may know all this, as an Australian. Though I did not check your User till just now. AlanE 07:18, 25 May 2007 (EDT)

I'm a Melburnian, and I didn't know. But then I'm an odd Melburnian, not being a sports fan, and the name did ring a bell. Philip J. Rayment 09:30, 25 May 2007 (EDT)
