Spiro T. Agnew (1918 - 1996) was Vice President under Richard Nixon from 1969 to 1973. He was Governor of Maryland (1967-1969) before becoming Nixon's running mate. He had been taking bribes and pled "no contest" to failure to report income on the bribes. He resigned the Vice Presidency on October 10, 1973. He was the only Vice President to resign due to criminal charges.
