South Uist
From Conservapedia
South Uist (Gaelic: Uibhist a Deas) is an island of the Western Isles of Scotland. It lies towards the southern end of that archipelago, with Barra to its south, and Benbecula to its north. The island is connected to Benbecula by a causeway. The population of South Uist is mainly Roman Catholic (the island was one of the very few areas in Great Britain where the Reformation never gained a foothold) and Gaelic-speaking. The main settlement is Lochboisdale (Loch Baghasdail) at the southern end of the island. This has a ferry terminal with services to Barra and to Oban on the Scottish mainland.
