Patrick Murphy (March 30, 1983), a Democrat, is the Representative-elect of Florida's 18th congressional district. He defeated Florida's Representative of the 22nd congressional district, Allen West, in a controversial race impacted by redistricting; it saw recounts and legal challenges. His success was largely contingent on early voting - which tended to favor liberals.[1]
