Joseph Kony

Joseph Kony (b. 1961) is the rebel leader of the Lord's Resistance Army that occupies the central African nations of Uganda and Sudan. Kony is also their spiritual leader that is fighting for a theocratic state. For twenty years, Kony has waged a brutal campaign of murder and destruction with estimates claiming more than 20,000 people have been killed. Thousands of children have been abducted by Kony and become child soldiers for the LRA.

He is indicted by the International Criminal Court on 21 counts of war crimes and 12 counts of crimes against humanity. In October 2011, Barack Hussein Obama sent 100 special forces soldiers to track down Joseph Kony.

In 2012, a large campaign was launched by the group "Invisible Children" over Facebook. This encouraged facebook users to spread the word of Kony to convince the US Government to provide more aid to Uganda.
