  • I find it quite ironic,
  • And dare I say absurd,
  • That something so iconic
  • As the Pledge cannot be heard,
  • Merely because its text includes
  • The two words "under God"...
  • And that on First Amendment grounds
  • Those words would be outlawed!
  • Could it be more offensive
  • Just to display a cross,
  • Or show a little sign which states,
  • "Jesus still saves the lost,"
  • Than it would be to shout insults,
  • To curse, and flip the bird?
  • I find it quite ironic,
  • In fact, rather absurd.
  • I find it diabolical,
  • And thoroughly decadent,
  • To treat our tiniest citizens
  • Like so much excrement.
  • Denied the right to trial,
  • To life and liberty;
  • Denied personhood status,
  • Their mothers' "property",
  • Routinely put to death in ways
  • We'd shudder if we saw,
  • Deprived of life without a charge--
  • No "due process of law".
  • The carnage yet continues,
  • With no sign of relent.
  • I find it diabolical,
  • And thoroughly decadent.
