High School Football Career
Jackson was considered Alabama's best wide receiver in his senior and junior seasons. In his junior season he had 70 catches for 1,407 yards and 16 touchdowns. The next year as a senior and team captain he caught 68 passes for 1,187 yards and 14 touchdowns while also leading his team to a state championship. Chad finished in second place for Alabama's Mr. Football award as a senior.
College Football Career
Chad Jackson chose to attend the University of Florida and played wide receiver for the Florida Gators in 2003, 2004 and 2005. He was only used sightly in 2003 when he had 3 receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown. He was used more heavily in 2004 and 2005 however. However, in 2004, Chad played in twelve (starting in three) games and caught 29 passes for 648 yards and 6 touchdowns. He also played 164 plays on special teams in his 2004 season. In 2005 Chad played in all twelve games and started eleven of those games at wide receiver. He finished the season with 88 receptions for 900 yards and 9 touchdowns. Was a Semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award in 2005 (best college football wide receiver).
Chad Jackson was drafted by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft. The Patriots traded their second round pick to the Green Bay Packers in order to switch draft spots with the Packers to move up in position to draft Jackson with the 36 overall pick of the draft. Chad had a great rookie camp with the Patriots but injured his hamstring sometime following the camp. He missed most of the Patriots 2006 training camp and never really had a chance to get into rhythm with the Patriots complex passing offense or quarterback Tom Brady. Jackson was on the Pats weekly injury report for almost all of the season but he still managed to contribute to the Patriots in his rookie season when he was healthy enough to play. He ended up playing in 12 games and starting 1 of them. He statically finished the season with 13 receptions for 152 yards and three touchdowns. In the 2006 AFC Championship game vs the Indianapolis Colts.
