Anita Thigpen Perry

Anita Thigpen Perry (born March 5, 1952) is the wife of Rick Perry, Republican governor of Texas, and has served as First Lady of Texas since December 21, 2000.
A native of Haskell, north of Abilene, Texas, and the daughter of a country physician, First Lady Perry was trained and practiced as a nurse. In 2008, Texas Tech University in Lubbock renamed its nursing school in Perry's honor.
She procured her bachelor's degree in nursing from the then West Texas State University, now West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas, south of Amarillo. She holds a master's degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
